Your privacy and care is our top priority

General Data Protection (GDPR) came into force on 25th May 2018. As a practice, we want you to know how we use your medical records

  • Abbey Court Medical Centre handles medical records in-line with laws on data protection and confidentiality
  • We share medical records with those who are involved in providing you with care and treatment
  • In some circumstances we will also share medical records, for example to find out more about why people get ill
  • We share information when the law requires us to do so, for example, to prevent infectious disease form spreading or to check the care being provided to you is safe
  • You have the right to be given a copy of your medical record
  • You have the right to object to your medical records being shared with those who provide you with care
  • You have the right to object to your information being used for medical research and to plan health services
  • You have the right to have any mistakes corrected and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Please see the practice policy notice below or speak to a member of staff for more information about your rights

National Data Opt-Out

Your health records contain a type of data called Confidential Patient Information. Information about your care such as treatment and diagnoses is collected whenever you use a health and care service. To find out how this information is used, and how you can opt-out, please click here

Summary Care Record (SCR)

All patients registered with a GP have a Summary Care Record (SCR), unless they have chosen not to have one. The information held in your SCR gives health and care professionals, away from our GP Practice, access to information to provide you with safer care, reduce the risk of prescribing errors and improve your patient experience.
